Top Tips for Blogging on WordPress

It’s pretty fair to say that there are lots of blogging platforms out there, but the general consensus tends to be that WordPress is the superior option out there when it comes to creating and running a successful blog.

If you’re thinking of making the change to WordPress from other platforms, or if you’re looking to start a blog and are wondering which one to choose, then we’re here to help. We’ve put together some top tips for getting the most out of WordPress for your blog.

Opt for a reliable host

If you’re looking to start with WordPress for the first time and are a bit (or totally) confused with what you’re doing, you could always think about using a host company to do most of the hard work for you. Choosing a host site is great if you have any problems as they’ll always be someone there at hand to help you (if you choose a reliable and reputable one, of course).

Look into relevant plug-ins to enhance your user’s experience

When researching bits about WordPress, you’ll have no doubt come across the term ‘plug-ins’ on your searches. Plug-ins are great on a blog as they help to not only optimise your content, but also your reader’s or user’s experience as they can allow them to do things like share your posts in a new way or contribute to the comments section and conversation easier, and again, in a new and perhaps more accessible way.

Keep your navigation bar simple and organised

WordPress in superior to alternatives in a lot of ways, and one of the main ones is the fact that it gives you a lot of freedom when creating your pages and your navigation bar. It’s really important though to keep things organised in terms of the navigation of your blog, so that your readers can access your great content fairly quickly, easily and without the hassle. You also have the option to create drop down menus too, which again are great, but should be used with a level of organised caution so things don’t get overly complicated and messy for your audience.

Check out the available themes regularly

Another huge advantage of WordPress is the number of available themes at your disposal, and the best part is, so many of them are free! (It’s also worth noting that even the ones you do have to pay for are usually really cheap, too). Don’t get your blog into a design rut – keep checking out the available and new themes regularly, as a new theme could be just what your blog needs to give it a bit of a face lift. You have the option to upgrade most of the themes if there’s something you don’t like about their design too.
